Novus Ignis in brief
If you only have a moment, this page is enough to know who we are and what you can expect from us.
Who we are#
The Novus Ignis Foundation from Poznań (KRS 0001269575), founded by Marcin Wołowski, is an entity without shareholders: no one here shares out profits, and for our services we want to charge only as much as it costs to maintain them. More: Foundation Principles whitepaper, chapter 1 and manifesto, section 1.1.
What we want to do#
We want to co-create an alternative internet whose highest value is human dignity, together with the privacy and freedom that follow from it. Suveria is to be a private space for work with optional help from digital intelligence, protected by safeguards whose operation can be independently verified. Omniforum is to be a shared public space where anyone can speak and be heard. More: manifesto, introduction and Why Novus Ignis.
Where we are today#
- Working: the foundation is registered, and the manifesto and whitepapers are published. The foundation accepts donations by bank transfer and shows every payment in the public register of contributions and expenses; the first one was the founding fund.
- Design: Suveria is at the design stage, and Omniforum has a first prototype under construction.
- Hypothesis: we assume that shared servers paid for by actual use may deliver more digital intelligence for every dollar than closed services; we have not tested this yet (manifesto, section 2.4).
- Vision: autonomous management by digital intelligence and further pillars. The full launch of further pillars is a distant direction; before that, only small initiatives with a defined end are possible. Today the foundation is run by people.

What we will not do#
We will not change these principles without changing the manifesto:
- We do not train models on conversations without separate consent (conversations are not used to improve digital intelligence unless someone separately allows it).
- We do not create hidden access to private content.
- A contribution does not grant votes, privileges or promotion.
- No one loses the right to vote because of their views or because they criticize the foundation.

What we are looking for#
At the start, we are especially looking for a few people with whom we will build and test the first versions of Suveria and Omniforum:
- people working in security, cryptography and infrastructure;
- programmers and interface designers;
- lawyers specializing in foundation law, data protection and digital services;
- donors ready to fund the public pilot budget, with no influence on decisions and no right to promotion.

If you have 5 minutes#
Read the introduction to the manifesto and tell us which sentence is unclear or which one you disagree with: highlight that passage and use the “I have a comment” button, or write to salve@novusignis.org.
If you are reading us through a model, also ask it about our weakest points and send us what it found.
